Chris Brown has been handed over to US federal marshals in order for them to take him to Washington DC for his pending assault trial.

The marshals took Brown from the Los Angeles jail he was being held in on Wednesday according to his spokesperson.

Brown has been in prison since March 14th after he was accused of hitting a man along with his bodyguard.

He was initially held in a rehab facility but was then moved to the jail after violating the conditions of his probation.

According to reports, Brown will be transferred to Washington on Monday.

If he is found guilty at trial he could face a sentence of 180 days and a fine of $1000.
