Music Industry Celebrates 10 Years of Digital Downloads - BBC Radio 1 to Host Special 7 Hour Show
- in Latest
The music industry is preparing to celebrate ten years of digital downloads.
A Now! compilation will be released to mark the occasion and the BBC will be helping with the celebrations by hosting a seven hour show on Radio 1.
The event is being branded “Decade Of Digital” and is being supported by the Official charts Company who launched the first official download chart in the UK in 2004.
A special show on Radio 1 on Easter Monday will count down the 100 all time best selling digital download tracks.
On the same day, Now! are planning to release a compilation entitled “Now That's What I Call 21st Century”.
Official Charts Company chief executive Martin Talbot said: "The past 10 years has seen digital consumption revolutionise the music industry, transforming the singles market and allowing fans instant access to their favourite tunes at highly competitive prices.
"And the digital revolution continues apace – just as downloading changed the way fans access music ten years ago, so streaming will continue this evolution over the coming decade."
