Spotify Remove Silent Album From Band Vulfpeck
- in Latest
Spotify have forced the band Vulfpeck to take down an album of silence, saying that it breaches the music streaming site’s terms and conditions.
The band have been encouraging fans to buy the album entitled “Sleepify” in order to use the royalties to fund their next tour so that they don’t have to charge admission.
The album is ten tracks of complete silence and the band encouraged fans to play it whilst they were sleeping.
The band announced that they had been forced to remove the album tweeting: "Feeling #hurt. Spotify has RESPECTFULLY asked us to remove Sleepify."
In response, they posted a three-track EP on Spotify which they called “Official Statement” with the first track, “#Hurt” including a message from the band’s keyboardist.
He said: "About 5 minutes ago I received an email from Spotify.
"The gist of it was that, while they enjoy Sleepify and thought it was funny and clever, it violated their terms of content. So I don't know what's going to happen with it - it's very uncertain at the moment.
"And in light of that uncertainly I want to take 30 seconds silence to ponder the uncertainty."
