Tomorrow at 9AM, 24 of the festivals that are based in the UK will create what has been described as a “digital blackout” across their main websites and social media in order to raise awareness of the dangers of legal highs.

Amongst the festivals that are participating are T in the Park, Bestival, Secret Garden Party, Lovebox, Global Gathering, Parklife and Sonisphere.

Anyone who visits the websites of participating festivals on Monday 5th May will be greeted with a window that is completely black but for a light bulb and the message “don’t be in the dark about legal highs”.

From there, users can follow a link to get more information about so called legal highs or navigate back to the appropriate festival’s website.

The campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of legal highs has been orchestrated by the Association of Independent Festivals (AIF) and is expected to become a yearly event.
