New Award Ceremony Honours Gingers
- in Latest
A new awards ceremony honouring the music from ginger artists is to be held for the first time next month.
The MOGOs (Music of Ginger Origin) will be held in Manchester in order to celebrate national Redhead Day UK.
There will be four categories for the awards; best ginger male musician, best ginger female musician, best honorary redhead by choice and best song with redhead lyrics.
The public can vote for who they want to receive each award online at www.musicofgingerorigin.co.uk with entries closing on 1st June ahead of the awards on 7th June.
“As the MOBOs (Music of Black Origin) come of age with their 18th birthday, it's time for their younger (and redder) sibling, the MOGOs to come to the fore,” said Barry Singleton of Ginger With Attitude.
“The rising prominence of performers such as Kate Nash, and of course our hero Ed Sheeran, proves that ginger power is on the rise in the music industry. In fact, many performers such as Florence Welch and Paloma Faith are actually choosing to become redheads.”
