A shocking video showing Beyonce’s sister Solange Knowles attacking brother-in-law Jay-Z in a lift has been leaked onto the internet.

The video was leaked by celebrity gossip site TMZ and shows Solange lashing out at Jay-Z before being restrained by a bodyguard.

She then tries to kick the rapper and he holds on to her foot.

The incident happened in a lift in the Standard Hotel where the after party of the Met Ball took place.

A spokesperson representing the hotel has since commented about the leak of the video and poke of the hotel’s disappointment that it has got out to the public.

"We are investigating with the utmost urgency the circumstances surrounding the situation and, as is our customary practice, will discipline and prosecute the individuals involved to our fullest capacity,” they said.

They continued to say that the hotel was "shocked and disappointed that there was a clear breach of our security system".
