James Arthur has confirmed once and for all that he is no longer with Simon Cowell’s record label Syco.

The departure was first reported back in April but up until now Arthur has denied the claims.

Today the X Factor star tweeted: "Just to clear things up - I am no longer with Syco. I would like to thank all at the label for making a great record with me.

"I now have to move on and do something different - the future is bright! #LOVE."

Arthur had previously claimed no knowledge of the alleged departure at the end of May, saying: "People make up stories... which is something I'm not really sure how to handle, I don't know what to say about it. As far as I know I've got a record deal and nothing's changed."

He did however admit: "Obviously Syco and X Factor won't be happy with some of the things I've said against the brand which weren't intended in the way they've been taken."
