Beatles Mini Series Doesn't Have the Rights to Their Music
- in Latest
It has been revealed that the makers of a new NBC series about the Beatles doesn't actually have the rights for using any of their music.
Details about the series were announced last month but it has since been revealed that the Beatles’ publishers have not allowed the use of any of their music.
CEO of Sony/ATV Music Publishing Marty Bandier said: About six months ago, we were working with Sony Pictures TV on a show centered around the journey of the Beatles, and at one point we were talking about working with Baz Luhrmann," Bandier said.
"We hadn't taken the next step, which is to reach out to the Beatles. The proposal is still on the table.
"NBC couldn't produce a show without the songs, and we can't produce a show without approaching the Beatles for their likeness rights."
