- in Latest
Organisers of the Oscars have announced new rules to govern its music categories.
As part of the changes, members of the academy will no longer be able to contact voters in order to promote their songs ahead of the ceremony.
They will also be unable to attend live performances of those who could be potential nominees unless it has a strict connection to a film screening.
As part of this year’s awards, a song was disqualified after it was discovered that a songwriter had emailed voters to ask them to consider his song.
The Academy said that it lowered: "the integrity of the voting process", adding that he "took advantage of information that few other potential nominees are privy to".
“Let it Go” from the Disney movie “Frozen” went on to win the award for best original song.
