UK festival ticket demand surges by 300% following Glastonbury

Demand for the UK's biggest summer music festivals has surged by an average of 300% following Glastonbury, according to ticket marketplace Seatwave.
Festivals including T in the Park, Latitude, Reading, Leeds and Bestival have all experienced an increase in ticket demand. The increase in interest in festivals has been attributed to blanket coverage of Glastonbury on the BBC and major newspapers.
A spokesperson for Seatwave said: "Glastonbury is often seen as the kick-off of the summer festival season. At this time each year we see demand surge for all the summer festivals as people see coverage of Glastonbury and decide they want to have their own amazing music festival experience."
This year took a surprise twist as American heavy metal group Metallica headlined. At first this brought criticism, as Glastonbury has been associated with more hippie type music. Some of the biggest critics came from the likes of Arctic Monkey’s Alex Turner and Mogwai. Both of these acts did have a music set at the same time as the heavy rockers.
Since the gig though, Twitter has exploded with positive comments about Metallica and it seems that they might have gained themselves a whole bunch of new UK fans.
