DIRTY LOOPS RELEASE COVER OF AVICII’S “WAKE ME UP” AND SET DEBUT ALBUM RELEASE DATE
- in Latest
Swedish Pop-Fusion sensation Dirty Loops release their cover of Avicii’s smash “Wake Me Up” on VEVO and announce the release date of their debut album, Loopified, for August 19.
Dirty Loops opens the track with an understated, mellow groove over a brushed snare, and continues into the chorus, where the well-known song’s familiar melody is sung over a fresh, new arrangement. Halfway through the song, the band teases the breakdown of the original track, only to launch into a huge instrumental fusion break complete with unexpected progressions flanked with intricate drum and bass fills that never leave the pocket.

In 2010, long time friends and session players Jonah Nilsson (vocals/keyboards), Henrik Linder (bass), and Aron Mellergardh (drums) became YouTube sensations, introducing their ‘loopified’ direction with a series of viral covers, building mesmerizing arrangements on top of modern pop hits.
Dirty Loops have since joined forces with producer/songwriter Andreas Carlsson (Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Carrie Underwood) and 16-time Grammy winning legendary producer/songwriter David Foster, to capture their uniquely original approach. The result is the trio’s 12-song debut album, Loopified.
The album’s first single, “Hit Me,” showcases the band’s staggering ability as players and the kind of unshakeable hooks that define them. The collection also features “It Hurts” – one of two ballads on the album – as well as two new ‘loopified’ covers of Justin Bieber’s “Roller Coaster” and “Wake Me Up” by Swedish DJ/hit maker Avicii. Throughout their debut release, Dirty Loops embrace their collective influences of Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson as well as Allan Holdsworth and Pat Metheny, unleashing a brave new pop-fusion beyond musical limits.
