Bullying and Death Threats Plague X-Factors's Katie Waissel
- in Latest
X-Factor contestant Katie Waissel’s bad publicity continues to grow, but not this time from journalists. The 24 year old who has not been far from the headlines since singing at Cheryl Cole’s house, has become a victim of cyber-bullying.
Postings on Facebook and music forums have sighted death threats against the finalist stating, “She should die!”. An X-Factor spokesperson stated the death threats were, “Disgusting, and they will not put up with it”.
Katie Waissel’s controversy began after she was put through after breaking down at the judge’s house stage of the show. At the time, another contestant Gamu Nhengu who gave far more competent performance was dropped in favour of Katie Waissel despite failing to complete her song.
Since then the publicity machine has gone into overdrive, especially with the finalist surviving four sing offs against other opponents. Two of which, Treyc Cohen and Aiden Grimshaw, were considered by many to be better and more talented performers.
Katie Waissel has responded in fine style to the bullying, and has stated that in wake of anti-bullying week, that people should speak out if they are falling victim to being bullied.
