Research by Seatwave reveals that over 10% of tickets sold in Leeds are for cheesy gigs.

Using data from tens of thousands of ticket purchases, ticket marketplace Seatwave has identified the top ten ‘guilty pleasure’ artists performing in the UK this year. Seatwave calculated that over 10% of tickets bought by fans in Leeds were for ‘guilty pleasures’ concerts (list below).

The top ten list of ‘cheesy’ artists:

1) The Saturdays

2) Kylie Minogue

3) Peter Andre

4) The Vamps

5) Lady Gaga

6) Bryan Adams

7) Michael Buble

8) James Blunt

9) Culture Club

10) Enrique Inglesias

Liverpool came second with 7.2% of tickets sold, whereas London appeared at the bottom of the league with 2.3%.

According to Seatwave’s research, Enrique Iglesias is the least popular cheesy act, followed closely by Peter Andre. Lady Gaga is the most popular act in London.

A spokesperson for Seatwave commented: “You could argue that Londoners have better taste in music than their northern counterparts, however, the fact is that when it comes to a fun night out, it’s hard to beat a Peter Andre gig.”

It is not yet thought why Leeds, in the North of England has such a higher percentage of cheesy artist fans. The findings seem somewhat interesting none the less. It's worth considering though, certain acts will appear more of a guilty pleasure than others depending on personal choice. A fan of Lady Gaga will probably not consider her 'cheesy' at all. These statistics might ruffle the feathers of some Leeds residents.
