Irish rock giants pull amazing stunt as they introduce their latest album 'Songs of Innocence free to 500 million iTune users. The band released their album to coincide with Apple releasing their latest iPhone 6 and new watch.

U2 brought the 11 track album online with Apple Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook. U2 also performed at the event playing The Miracle (of Joey Ramone)

Being released in this manor, claimed the worlds largest album release in history.

Claiming the headlines, talk of Apple's new iPhone 6, Smart Watch and mobile payment system has flooded the news all day. Two greats joining together brought an even bigger buzz for both parties.

Its not often artists release free material, however Jay-Z did release an album in 2013 to Samsung smartphone users.

According to reports, U2's release won't get counted as official sales because of the nature of the release, and it being free.

First reports of the album (and the Apple products) have been met with positive comments.
