U2 Release 3 Track EP for Record Store Day
- in Latest
If you hanker for vinyl and live in the UK you could well go green with envy of your USA counterparts. Record Store Day is where independent record shops across the United States are featuring vinyl records, many of which feature never before released tracks. U2, arguably the world’s biggest band are releasing a 3 track EP for the event, which features a song called “Mercy”, which has never been released before. All the tracks from U2 are from their European 360 tour. Other big names that feature are Metallica, and Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.
Record Store Day is in part, a satire of the post Thanksgiving ‘shop until you drop’ scenario that is a tradition in the USA, where it is known as ‘Black Friday’. It is also a clever marketing ploy as vinyl can make an excellent gift for any music lover. It is also a good opportunity for vinyl loving Americans to get their hands on quality tracks by quality bands.
Sadly, there is no similar event planned in the UK, but hopefully the tracks and indeed the vinyl, will hopefully be available at some point in the future.
