With the exit of Paige Richardson at the weekend, attention turns once again to the next round. It is fair to say that no one is safe in the talent contest, and it appears that popularity and entertainment are providing the platform for many that cast their votes.

Paige Richardson lost out to Cher Lloyd in the sing off on Sunday night’s show. Louis Walsh, waited an agonisingly long time to deliver his verdict before choosing Paige Richardson as the act he would like to send home.

ITV’s spin off show the Xtra Factor, interviewed the evictee Paige Richardson who behaved impeccably throughout the show, even after his exit. Paige Richardson was philosophical and upbeat and said the whole show had been very positive. It is a nice contrast to contestants from previous years.

The shock of the bottom two however, clearly took its toll on the remaining finalists. Matt Cardle, said the eviction was “a joke”, while looking at the man who appears to be his archenemy, Wagner. This rather insidious and sneaky comment could be a factor next weekend where conceivably, Wagner will strike again and return for the week after that.

Cher Lloyd one of the favourites to win the show received plenty of bad press for her actions prior to the eviction show on Sunday night. Should Mr Cardle exhibit similar behaviour throughout this week, then his voice simply may not be enough.
