For unsigned musicians, having good original music is the basis for success. There are however a number of PR tips to consider which make a huge difference in achieving that dream of a record contract.
To impress the music industry professionals and attract the attention of the 'talent scouters' (A&R) who have the necessary authority and contacts there are several tips which can be considered which will make a big difference.
The way people promote themselves is far different today than in earlier years. Mainly due to the progression of technology.
1) The first important thing is to make sure you have a press kit, consisting of a CD, a written bio, preferably an 8x10 photo and any other important or eye catching material.
2) Make use of social network sites to build up fans and distribute your music. Use Facebook, Twitter and Myspace to share your material. Update regular and place your links just about anywhere.
