Talented singer – songwriter, Emmy the Great, is currently working on her second album. Producing it is legendary producer Gareth Jones, and the collaboration is currently subject to a documentary from VBS.TV.

The fascinating documentary features both artist and producer talking about working together and the strengths each one has. For Emmy, it is clear she and her band has never worked in an atmosphere like this, describing it as “the best they have ever had it”, and that it is clear that one of the many qualities Gareth Jones brings to a studio is an ability to provide an uncluttered and stress – free environment to allow creativity to flourish.

As for Gareth Jones himself, he has produced artists such as Nick Cave and Depechemode and has produced albums in Germany as well as the UK. Jones explains that at first finding a balance between the requests of the artist was a little difficult, as she wanted the album to be both darker, and pop, settled on providing pop beats as the frame work for the songs.

Gareth Jones was introduced to Emmy the Great via her management team and was already a fan of her first album because of the lyrics.
