Fueled by the experiences of global travel with the Marine Corps, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Tigger Clarkson formed the Tigger Clarkson Band as an outlet for his thoughts and passions, both lyrically and musically. After a trio of successful recordings, Tigger has most recently had his track “Can’t Have You (Radio Edit)” featured on WiFi PR Group’s indie mixtape, Indie Anthems Vol. 8.
Tigger Clarkson Band is headed up by the band’s founder and namesake who is a multi-instrumentalist tackling the roles of vocalist, guitarist and percussionist as well as songwriting and post-production. He got his start playing music after purchasing a guitar while in college. At first, he put it down out of frustration and focused instead on playing football for the United States Naval Academy.
However, two weeks later, he sustained a season-ending knee injury that immobilized him for an extended length of time. During that time, he pulled out his guitar to take his mind off the injury and loss of opportunity to play, and these many months offered him a new opportunity—to teach himself guitar and learn to write his own music and lyrics.
Later in life as a Marine Corps officer, Tigger would be deployed for seven months at a time in such destinations as Africa, Djibouti and Haiti after the country’s devastating earthquake to fly combat missions. He calls them “challenging and very unique opportunities” that opened his eyes to life outside the U.S. He says, “So many people in this world deal with horrific and exceptionally challenging circumstances, yet they still find a way to smile and appreciate life. It gave me great perspective and made me realize how fortunate I am.” Also inspired musically by such artists as Bill Withers, Del Shannon, James Taylor, Jimi Hendrix and the genre Motown, Tigger channels all of these experiences and emotions into his music, which can be heard as well as felt by his listeners.
Tigger Clarkson made his musical debut with his first recording, The Balance EP, released in 2010, the first of his three albums to all be released through Autokinetic Records. He followed up that EP with another, The Forget You EP, in 2011. His latest and greatest accomplishment was the release of his album Patience, Rhythm & Symmetry (2013), an album that he engineered, mixed and produced the majority of in addition to performing on vocals, guitars and percussion.
Tigger Clarkson most recently had his single “Can’t Have You (Radio Edit)” featured on WiFi PR Group’s indie compilation, Indie Anthems Vol. 8. It’s a collection of international independent artists who WiFi PR wants to put on the radars of music lovers and industry tastemakers the world over. Released at Indie Entertainment Summit in Los Angeles and Lollapalooza in Chicago, the 15-track digital mixtape was handed out on 3,500 download cards to festival attendees. WiFi PR has also made 1,500 more download copies available on the Indie Anthems Bandcamp page.
Tigger Clarkson is currently on hiatus from live performances while he is writing new material.
