Johnny Searfoss has just released the single “All I Want For Christmas Is A Kitten” a fun, festive, feline frolic of pop-jazz paying homage to classic songs like Lou Monte's “Dominick The Donkey” and David Seville's “The Chipmonk Song”. A purr-fect tune for the jazz guitar enthusiast as well as cat lovers!
The inspiration behind this tune? She's on the cover of the CD. Ladies and Gentlemen, meet Kirby! Kirby was rescued from a local Pennsylvania park, 2 days before the 2011 flood dumped over 15 feet of water on it. John's wife brought the kitten home to care for it “until it could be adopted”...that was three years ago! The only thing John seems more passionate about is his music.
Once again, John has demonstrated his passion for many styles of music as he did on his self-entitled debut released in 2013. Blues, Jazz, Rock, Funk, even Country, John keeps his audience on their toes dancing and wondering what he'll record next. “I try to avoid the formulas and obvious hype that over-saturates the mainstream. Good music is timeless and doesn't rely on trends. It stands on it's own. When I write, I look to those artist who have proven that for inspiration”.
That inspiration seems evident from his wife-inspired “The Best Day Of My Life” to his Santo & Johnny inspired re-make of “Sleepwalk”. If there's a good song being played on the radio you can bet John will find it, enjoy it and use it to fuel his own unique style of writing.
Look for his second CD release “Bring Back My Radio” in the early Summer of 2015. “All I Want For Christmas Is A Kitten” is available online at Johnny's site, CDBaby.com and other fine, music retailers.
