Who’d have thought that three independent, unsigned artists could shake the very foundations of electronic music and give the genre a makeover it wasn’t at all expecting? Featured on Indie Anthems Vol. 9, these three artists, Trinity Ward, Savant and SirensCeol, join other indie artists on the 16-track digital mixtape, the latest installment of the indie musician series from WiFi PR Group. The Indie Anthems mixtapes, released at major festivals and music events, introduce these artists to both music fans and industry tastemakers who define what is coming up next in the music world.

Held October 21-25 in 80+ venues throughout New York City, CMJ Music Marathon showcased more than 1,300 artists for over 125,000 attendees, who were exposed to some of the top talent in underground music. The festival is a prime source of music discovery and serves as the foundation of success for many new artists. CMJ was the perfect outlet to release Indie Anthems Vol. 9, and WiFi PR Group handed out 3,500 download cards to festival attendees to spread the word about the album’s featured indie artists.

One of the three featured electronica artists was New Zealand’s own Trinity Ward, who produces a distinct blend of electronic music with a science fiction theme to create what he calls “scifitronica.” This sound can be heard on his Indie Anthems track “Mayak,” and it demonstrates the level of innovation that unsigned and independent artists are bringing to the music scene.

Kicking off the mixtape is another up-and-coming electronic artist, Savant of Chicago, IL, with his track, “Rise Up.” Bringing a lounge aesthetic to his genre, “electropop space opera,” Savant focuses on solid vocals as much as hard-hitting, engaging beats. He pushes his music to the masses via electronica record label, SectionZ, which is making a name for itself in supporting successful indie artists in the genre.

Another SectionZ featured artist, Burbank, CA’s SirensCeol, also made the cut for the latest installment of Indie Anthems with his track, “Feel Alright,” an original mix featuring Jeff Sontag. Fronting a catchy meld of electro house with elements of dubstep, like massive build-ups and zany drops, Savant produces music that has landed him not only contracts with SectionZ but also major performance slots, such as Electronic Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas.

In addition to these three artists pushing the envelope of electronic genre preconceptions, SectionZ is a relatively small record label, but its artists, including Savant and SirensCeol, are garnering over $1 million in sales. The label aims to “define the new sounds of electronica,” which it certainly does with these Indie Anthems artists, both of whom are paving the way for hot new sounds as well as other indie artists in the genre.

Another 1,500 digital downloads of Indie Anthems Vol. 9 can now be downloaded from the Indie Anthems Bandcamp page. The previous eight Indie Anthems installments are also available for streaming and downloads, while supplies last.
