Birds May Breathe is based out of New York, NY and is considered an Alternative/Indie band with influences from the rock era of the 60’s  which includes music by The Beatles and Beach Boys.  They formed their band in 2009 and have released 4 albums which have received great reviews; “Birds May Breathe”, “In Transit”, Relationships” and “Silent Movie”.

Their latest release “Silent Movie” contains some of the most innovative songs in sound, arrangements and overall structure.  Although some of the songs pick up vibes from their native base sound, their creative juices have given them an edge over other alternative bands of today.  Being truer to their style and their craft has garnered them a truly a loyal fan base with audience members from all ages and genders.  Their songs are conventionally robust with a ‘far out’ retro rock rhythm section that seems to stand out all its own.  Add in the vocals and that beat and you have a marriage that will last forever.  Future reaching out to the past and merging into a glorious blend that is extremely relatable.

“Rush Our” and “Slow Train” are two singles from this latest release that exemplify this evolving sound. 

“Rush Our” is a quick tempoed, harmonizing collaboration of voice and rhythm.  You feel as if you’ve gone back 30 years with this melody reminiscent of the Beatles in the era of Yellow Submarine.  The band says it pertains to the frenetic pace of modern live in a more personal sense - thus ‘our’ verses ‘hour’.  This is introspective as thoughts of youth and vitality seem to have waned as the years pass by acknowledging the changes in your life comparing then to now.  Such though provoking lyrics is set to a rhythm that all will enjoy.  

“Slow Train” contains a classic back up singer’s delight giving the song nostalgic feel to it – classic in structure and truly a diamond in their many jewels.  This song compares life as a slow train ride.  Those who are on the fast track experiences success in that same quick mind blowing manner, tough to enjoy and savor; not similar to the slow life where you CAN enjoy what stands before you with all your senses, slowly savoring all that life gives you.

Birds May Breathe is always in a state of evolving– always learning.  This album is a part of a bigger picture as the band strives for an eclectic mix on their albums, each song owning its on sound, style and statement.  Growth is a journey and acceptance of what passes you in life and how you choose to deal with it.  “Silent Movie” gives it all to you through some of the best retro rock rhythms on the planet.  They are upbeat, catchy songs that have meaning.
