Manchester among the possible cities to host the band
The moment every U2 fan has been waiting for is here. Last week, the 22 time Grammy winning group announced the dates to their upcoming INNOCENCE and EXPERIENCE Tour for 2015. Tickets went on sale on Monday, 8th December and following staggering demand for tickets the band has already announced additional shows in several cities including New York, Berlin and Amsterdam.
But with several week-long gaps between concerts, it’s no secret that dates in new cities will to be announced.
No one knows for sure which cities will be chosen, so, Ticketbis has conducted research in which they gathered data from U2’s upcoming
shows and previous tours to provide predictions for cities which are yet to be announced. Following the London concerts at the end of October, the group will have 5 days before going up to Glasgow with Manchester Arena in Manchester, Motorpoint in Sheffield and 3Arena in Dublin among the most likely locations for a show judging from sales figures and patterns from their last 360º tour, and considering venue types and sizes for the next tour.
On Sept 4th, U2 commence their first leg of the European tour in Turin, Italy. The first series of unannounced shows could take place from Sept 30th to Oct 4 after playing four gigs in Berlin. Arena Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia and O2 Arena Prague, Czech Republic are among the venues with the highest prospects for hosting the band during this period. Although having never played in Serbia, Kombank Arena in Belgrade is also a likely contender.
From Oct 7th to 12th the group will most likely fill these days with a show at the Barclaycard Center, Madrid or OAKA Olympic Indoor Hall in Athens.
Between the Koln and London shows, U2 is likely to play in one of the following venues: Krakow Arena in Krakow Poland, BostFinance-Arena in Bern, or Halle Tony Garnier in Lyon.
Following four shows in LA, the last being May 31st, the group has 11 free days before heading up to Montreal. Anaheim, Houston, and Portland are the top contenders to fill dates will the venues likely to be Honda Center, Toyota Center and Moda Center respectively.
Between June 30th - July 5th you could expect shows to be announced either at Philips Arena in Atlanta, Scottrade Center in St. Louis, or Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Whether fans are willing to wait for new dates to be announced or not before buying their tickets is a dilemma in itself. However, once tickets are sold out, users on secondary market portals will have them available.
