Catfish Concerts will live stream event, a benefit concert to help launch pioneering singer-songwriter's new sustainable non-profit arts center for Hays County.
SAN MARCOS, Texas – Catfish Concerts will present Playing for Good, an event to raise funds for Terri Hendrix's Own Your Own Universe sustainable non-profit arts center for Hays County, on January 18. Playing for Good will feature performances by Hendrix and legendary instrumentalist Lloyd Maines, Adam and Chris Carroll, Ashleigh Stone and several others. Center for Texas Music History Director Gary Hartman will host the event.
Hendrix, a pioneering independent singer-songwriter who lives with epilepsy, plans to make the OYOU arts center her focus from this point forward. “We have played all over the world,” she recently told Texas Public Radio. “I miss the road and meeting new people, but I have to look at logistics. My time on this earth is going to be best served at the arts center. By focusing my energy on the OYOU and playing perhaps more regionally, people can see first-hand what I'm doing locally.”
Hendrix says the goal for the 501 (C) (3) non-profit corporation will be making it a venue where people with physical disabilities can enjoy music, arts, crafts and shows without the worry of social or mobility issues within the facility, a venue where anyone – regardless of income – can attend workshops or learn a musical instrument.
