Thunder announce special London show and festival appearances
- in Latest
One of the most popular and enduring British rock bands of the last 25 years, with 18 Top 40 singles in the UK and a string of gold and platinum albums around the world, Thunder have just announced a series of new live shows.
As well as a trio of arena dates in March, the band are set to play a very special acoustic performance at HMV, Bond Street on Tuesday 17th February, in support of their brand new album 'Wonder Days', which hits the shelves the day before. Tickets went on sale this morning and sold out immediately.
The band are also set to play at this year’s legendary Download Festival at Donington Park, alongside the likes of Kiss, Motley Crüe, Muse, Slash and many more.
Thunder first stormed the Donington stage in 1990, when they opened the old Monsters Of Rock festival alongside Whitesnake, Aerosmith, Poison and Quireboys. The band have since gone on to grace the stage for Download in 2009 as part of their farewell tour, and again in 2013 as part of the band’s comeback.
On announcing their appearance at this year’s festival, singer Danny Bowes says: "Download is one of my favourite festivals in the world, so I can’t wait for June to come around. Donington was where we made our mark back in 1532, so it's fitting somehow to be back at Download this year when we release 'Wonder Days', our first studio album for 6 years, and it’ll be great to see how the new tracks go down alongside the classics. The Download crowd is always amazing, so as my dear old Mum used to say, "Let’s have it!…”
The group’s first studio album in six years, ‘Wonder Days’ reminds us why Thunderare now more revered than ever before, with a sound that is a timeless marriage of unforgettable melodies and sheer rock power. Their long-awaited return with ‘Wonder Days’ should ensure that Thunder are elevated to their rightful place in the pantheon of truly great British bands.
Recorded at the legendary Rockfield Studios in Monmouth, with Luke Morley reprising his role as producer, the album was mixed by the renowned Mike Fraser, whose CV includes such names as Aerosmith, AC/DC and Metallica and who worked on several of the group’s key early records including their celebrated debut, ‘Back Street Symphony.
Thunder also hit the road in March with headline arena dates in Leeds, Birmingham and London, with Reef and Tax The Heat as support.
