Is Hip – Hop so Successful Because There is so Much of it?
- in Latest
Hip – hop for over a decade is the world’s best selling genre of music. It has consistently outsold all other genres and names such as Eminem and P.Diddy are global superstar successes.
Is part of its commercial success however, down to the fact that many of today’s bands are hip – hop based? In America at least many hip – hop bands and artists seem to be connected in a musical community, where each play, produce, or perform on each others records, and in each others videos. It is rare to hear about one rap star performing a song without help from another.
With so many bands and artists in this genre, American radio is probably dominated by the hip – hop genre. Two out of three music news articles seem to contain a hip – hop related story of some kind. It is hard to imagine an American hip – hop band going undiscovered or failing due to the volume of support and the interconnected nature of the genre.
America is defiantly the home of hip – hop, and nearly everyone rapper involved in the scene is becoming a global name, or has performed with one.
