Train Disappointed at Lack of Grammy Nominations
- in Latest
The band Train, who recorded, ‘Hey, Soul Sister’, which was one of the best selling and most radio played songs of 2010 expressed disappointment at being nominated for only one Grammy.
Pat Monahan lead vocalist with the group said, "You know, it was a strange night for us, to be real honest with you. Playing the nominations show, being seated in the front to watch all the performances, and then to not be nominated for any of them during that show. I don't really know what the take is, to be real honest. It kind of felt like a practical joke at the time.”
The band were only nominated in one category, that of ‘Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group With Vocals’ for their live version of the song.
Though technically the song was released digitally in 2009, which excludes from the 2011 Awards, Pat Monohan believes that the nominated live version should have been enough to earn it a few more nominations in other categories, though he does feel the technicality excludes the song from some areas.
In a further twist, the band were invited to play at the nominations concert which traditionally is a good indicator that plenty of nominations are coming their way.
