- in Latest
Legends Alice Cooper and Neil Diamond are to be admitted to the famous club together with Tom Waits, Darlene Love, and Dr John. The artists will be added in March 14th when they will be hourned at an awards ceremony held at New York’s Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
On hearing the news, midnight rocker Alice Cooper had a downbeat air, "I've always felt the same way about this whole thing. I kind of sat back and said, 'It will happen eventually.'"
Neil Diamond however, was very excited, exclaiming, "I think it's great. I'm happy that they recognized me and my work. Any club that has Chuck Berry and Little Richard and the Everly Brothers is a club that I want to be a part of."
All of the nominations for next year’s inclusion were first time nominees with the exception of Tom Waits who had been nominated before. Not so lucky nominees included, LL Cool J, Chic, Donna Summer, the Beastie Boy, J. Geils Band and first-time nominees, Bon Jovi.
Darlene Love, on hearing of her inclusion was ecstatic, "I was just stunned for a minute. ... I was laughing and crying at the same time. I'm still on cloud nine."
