The rapper, singer and songwriter known around the world as Nellagy has released his widely anticipated EP record, “#Nellagenius.” The EP is Nellagy's most significant official release since his popular winter 2014 album, “That's How I Do,” which notably featured his surprise hit single, “To the Sky.” Both albums and the single have been proudly released on the Spentopia Entertainment independent music label without the influence of the corporate music industry. Full of groove, bass, smarts and style, “#Nellagenius” is the latest reason for fans of hip hop to pay attention to this rising star from the American East Coast.

Nellagy has cited as main artistic influences Kanye West, Ace Hood, Lupe Fiasco, Drake, Big Sean and J Cole. Of these he is most similar to Kanye in that both are largely solo artists in terms of lyrics, back beats and musical accompaniment altogether.

Also not unlike West is Nellagy's penchant for keeping a positive outlook in his rhymes and lines, a trait not commonly found in mainstream hip hop until recently, as lyrically conscientious performers such as Nellagy and Kendrick Lamar continue to deliver uplifting messages through their heavy-hitting urban poetry.

Born in Philadelphia, PA and raised in Delaware, Nellagy belongs to the subset of musicians stemming from the East-Coast tradition of rap music, the locale which started it all in New York City more than thirty years ago. No stranger to the music scene, Nellagy's sound has been in his blood since the beginning.

“I first got involved in music through following my dad's footsteps of being a musician, producer, and songwriter,” writes Nellagy.

A college-educated young man, Nellagy performs on a regular basis and has made radio appearances on programs such as Heat 100's Corey Wims and Jay Reezy Show. The official video for his “To the Sky” single garnered him a solid following of loyal fans and continues to circulate online across the globe. The artist has described himself as “a guy who has fun and likes his fans to have fun with his music.”

His first EP, “Appearance Ain't Everything” was published when he was 16, at which time he publicly stated that his mission was to show the world that “hip hop is not all negative or stereotypical.” He co-wrote the title song for a film, “Brotherly Love,” as well as a single, “Break the Code,” which was selected for a mixtape distributed at an education summit sponsored by Jr. Music Executive, Google, Temple University, and others.

The “#Nellagenius” EP by Nellagy is available online worldwide. Hip-hop fans, get in early.
