The singer and songwriter known as Betsy Lucas has released her latest LP album, “Delivery Girl.” The record contains no fewer than 16 original tracks for a total listening time of over an hour. It has been proudly published on the LuCasa Farms Records independent music label without the influence or support of the corporate music industry. Raw yet refined, and bringing a surprising balance of tender, heartfelt singer-songwriter music and groove-charged alternative rock, “Delivery Girl” by Betsy Lucas is one of the most fresh and distinctive pop records to be released in years.

Betsy Lucas has roots in places as disparate as Michigan and Nashville, twisting also deep into San Francisco's Bay Area. She cites as main artistic influences Joni Mitchell, the Pretenders, the Beatles, Steely Dan, Rufus, Earth Wind & Fire, and Carly Simon. Of these, her most intuitive similarities stem from the first two, and fans of either are likely to be enthusiastic with “Delivery Girl” by Betsy Lucas.

The variety of music on Lucas' new LP makes it extremely re-playable, with driving alt-rock tracks like “I Can't Pretend” followed by striking jazzy numbers such as “How Not to Play,” while also displaying myriad shades of the singer-songwriter tradition throughout.

Asked to comment on the general theme of her album, Lucas writes, “To share meaningful and melodic music. Harkens back to the glory days of the singer-songwriter era. Puts its own fresh spin on the '70s with some alternative rock thrown in. Think revisionist old-school pop/rock.”

Betsy Lucas comes from a musical family, her parents each being barbershop quartet champions in their own right. Her uncle, Bob Lucas, has songs featured on the latest Grammy-Award-winning record by Alison Krauss. Betsy herself achieved radio airplay by the age of 15. Soon afterward, she found herself in a Nashville studio being produced by Fred Carter, Jr. (Roy Orbison, Joan Baez, Simon & Garfunkel).

Lucas resides now in San Francisco and a great many Bay Area talents have contributed to her “Delivery Girl” LP. These include David Immergluck (Counting Crows, John Hiatt) Jim Prescott (G. Love & Special Sauce) Adam Levy (Tracy Chapman) Dave Ziegner, Michael Stadler, Jessica “Jelt” Lucas, Joanne Bussiere, and many more.

“Delivery Girl” by Betsy Lucas is available online worldwide.
