Muse Rock Band Has Discussions about Playing in Outer Space
- in Latest
Rock band Muse have recently revealed a desire to play a gig in outer space. In an interview with the Sun newspaper, Muse’s Matt Bellamy stated that the band have had lengthy discussions about the prospect.
“We've had some discussions about playing in space. Sometimes very coherent conversations and sometimes very late at night, but it's for real."
The band’s Earth bound gigs continue to go to strength to strength with the band collecting the O2 Silver Clef Award for best live performance.
The band have not started on an astronaut space programme just yet, but instead have considered approaching Richard Branson for help. "I'm thinking of approaching Richard Branson to see if we could do it on his [Virgin Galactic] spacecraft he's got happening," said Matt Bellamy. "Although we do have a lot of equipment, so I guess we'd have to use pods to carry our stuff and we'd scale back the shows a lot."
For the time being, Muse will have to be content with Earth bound gigs like last year’s slot at Glastonbury, where they were joined by U2 guitarist The Edge, for their rendition of “Where the streets have no name.”
Whether Muse get to play a gig in the cosmos remains to be seen.
