The singer and songwriter known as Samara Moni has released her debut, deep-house vocal single, “I'm Sorry.” The track has been proudly published on the Galaxy Orlando Records independent music label without the support or influence of the corporate music industry. With roots in traditional deep-house music and a modern, razor-sharp studio production, “I'm Sorry” by Samara Moni is easily one of the most entrancing dance tracks of the year and a stunning introduction to this arresting singer from Florida.
Orlando's Samara Moni has a resonant, natural singing voice that bears the refinement and elegance of a veteran chanteuse with several decades of experience, while yet retaining the clarion, crystalline quality of her actual youth. Likewise, her style and delivery have the independent character of performers like Whitney Houston and Aretha Franklin, while her energetic joie de vivre recalls contemporary house-music singers such as Nero and Banks.
Samara Moni, herself, cites as main artistic influences some of the most powerful female vocalists in recent memory, including Sade, Adele, and Amy Winehouse. Also of note is her own musical pedigree. Her roots include Latin royalty such as her uncle, Sammy Marrero of the Latin Souls, whose “Latin Soul Boo-Ga-Loo” remains a pillar of the Latin-soul genre, as well as her equally famous cousin, Carmen Delia Depini, who recorded over 30 albums – including the Latin version of “We Are the World” – and was inducted into the International Latin Music Hall of Fame in 2002.
A manzana not far from the árbol, Samara Moni has been performing live music since middle school. Her singing career began in earnest even before she graduated high school when she joined a reggae and rhythm-'n'-blues act with a residency at Orlando's Peacock Room. In the course of working part-time at a popular club not long after, she gained a local reputation as “The Singing Bartender.”
It was around this time that her microphone tattoo got the attention of a studio producer who would become her liaison with current producer Joanne Pepitone of Galaxy Orlando Records. Pepitone is perhaps best known for her recent work with Grammy-Award-winning producer Frankie Biggz (Mariah Carey, Eminem, 50 Cent, Kanye West, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera) but she has also worked in various capacities with titans including John Hammond Sr. (V.P., Columbia Records) and Imarri (“Let Me Love You”).
“I'm Sorry” by Samara Moni is available beginning 11 July 2015 from Galaxy Orlando Records. Fans of deep house music, remarkable singing and exceptional studio production should absolutely get in early.
