After spending the past two years crisscrossing the country performing at some of the most iconic venues, Black Angel Down will be making quite a homecoming when they appear on this year’s Shindig Festival.
The Baltimore-based band, which is currently home writing their sophomore album, will perform at the third annual Shindig Festival September 19 at 1:30 PM. During this much anticipated festival, Black Angel Down will join such heavy hitters as Godsmack, Anthrax, Stone Temple Pilots, and more for a day that “celebrates the blue collar, rock & roll spirit which makes up the very core of the city of Baltimore,” according to event organizer 24-7 Entertainment.
Hailed as one of the best “super groups” by Skope Magazine, Black Angel Down has been captivating audiences and winning over fans with its eclectic, hard-hitting grooves and soulful melodic vocals and harmonies that can only be attributed to its diverse line up.
The band, which is praised for its creativity and constant rebirth and reinvention,
comprises members from some of the most widely successful and sound forging rock bands in the industry, including The Mayan Factor, Imbue, Live Alien Broadcast and Agents of the Sun and is fronted by Nokio, the N-Tity, of legendary multi-platinum R&B group, Dru Hill.
"The creative energy and professionalism of this band is way beyond anything I've been involved in before," said co-founder and bassist Kevin Baker. “That’s why we can’t wait to be back home and perform some of our new material for our fans.”
Prior to the Shindig Festival, Black Angel Down has been busy touring and recording material for their second album. They’ve had an unprecedented debut in LA with back-to-back performances at The Viper Room and The Whisky a Go Go as well as a sold out show at SXSW.
In fact, their SXSW set was so impressive that Gary Jay, owner of Landshark Promotions, said, “BLACK ANGEL DOWN are the real deal - their headline performance at our Austin '13 showcase during the South X Southwest Music Festival was nothing short of revolutionary. They say you can't re-invent the wheel...maybe so, but these guys do a damn fine job of tryin'...big things are comin' their way."
The band also has a strong presence on the East Coast, hitting venues like The Mercury Lounge in New York and The Saint in Asbury Park, NJ. They've recently shared the stage with the likes of SALIVA and FUEL, a great prerequisite to joining the headliners on the main stage at Shindig.
Fans are encouraged to purchase tickets to the Shindig Festival soon as it typically sells out. Tickets can be purchased at: http://www.ticketmaster.com/event/15004E9C1A12679C
