All eyes were on Cheryl Cole as the X-Factor judge revealed a new tattoo at the National Television Awards this week in the UK.

The singing star from Newcastle showed off her latest body art in a black dress with an exposed back and has said that she had designed the tattoo herself to symbolise a “new beginning” for her.

27 year old Cheryl Cole explained that the tattoo, which wraps around her entire lower back, was “deeply personal” and the artwork for it began in LA last summer to mark her divorce from Ashley Cole, the Chelsea football star.

It is reported that it took 11 hours for the tattoo to be completed at the LA Shamrock Social Club last August.

She said: “The sitting itself was very painful but I was determined to get it done in one hit. I didn´t cry once!”

It is thought that the singer finally decided to show off her new 13 inch design at the National Television Awards as the tattoo had finally healed enough for a public viewing.

Cherly is no stranger to body art and already sports four other tattoos, one on her hand, another on her buttock, barbed wire around her thigh while she also has “Mrs C” on her neck.
