Theft charges for Lindsay Lohan
- in Latest
US actress Lindsay Lohan has found herself back in the media spot light for all the wrong reasons after being charged with a felony count of stealing.
The star is accuse by prosecutors of stealing a necklace worth more than $2,500 last month and if found guilty she could face up to three years behind bars in prison.
The theft is reported as occurring after she was released from court ordered re-hab and now prosecutors are calling for bail to be set at a massive $20,000.
Lohan had been forced into a re-hab programme after failing a court ordered drugs test.
This is not the first time that Lindsay has found herself in trouble with the law as the troubled star has a history of being on the wrong side of the law.
In December she was accused by a member of staff at the Betty Ford Center of assault while she has also previously been convicted of drink driving in 2007.
Lohan has also been accused in the past of other cases of theft including in 2008 when a student alleged that Lindsay Lohan stole her mink coat, worth $11,000 from a club in New York. In the same week the actress was also accused by a model of stealing thousands of dollars worth of clothing after a house sitter threw an unauthorised party at her home.
A more recent case which cast doubt on the star was in June 2009 after $400,000 worth of Dior jewelry went missing from a photo shoot in London.
