Jan Daley’s new album “The Way of a Woman” is impressing listeners from beyond just the smooth jazz realm. Music lovers of all kinds are gravitating toward the confident, vocally dynamic and polished sound that Daley has become known for. Her accompanists and producer Michael B. Sutton did a fantastic job of creating a lush and full rhythm section that never overpowers the artist. Jan’s swooning voice stays above the players and creates a new and unique sound for every song she performs.
Of the eleven songs present on the album, Jan Daley personally wrote six of them. Between the personal touch of these six songs and the incredible classic Great American Songbook vibe (a collection of the most popular songs and jazz standards from the early 20th century) in the other five tunes, Daley’s smooth jazz album is memorable and stands out from other smooth jazz artists of today. The thought and intent that is clear in each of her songs is impressive and will hold you under it’s spell for the entirety of the album.
