Gwyneth Paltrow to enter top 40

Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow is better known for her acting roles than her singing however it looks like the star will be making an impression in the top 40 this week after her appearnce on the hit television show Glee.

Her husband, Chris Martin, the frontman of award winning British rocker Coldplay, is more used being the chart success in the family but wife Gwyneth could be featuring in the charts twice this week with two of the songs she performed in the Glee show.

Gwyneth played Holly Holliday in the Glee episode, a substitute teacher eager to make friends with the student who stood in for Will Shuester while he was ill.

As Holly Holliday she encouraged the Glee Club kids to perform their own choice of songs including the summer hit “Forget You” by Cee-Lo Green with her cover of the song currently sitting at number 29 in the chart.

The episode concluded with a mash up of the Rihanna hit “Umbrella” with “Singing In The Rain” complete with a drenched stage and twirling umbrellas which according to the Official Charts Company is at number 29 in the chart at the mid week point.

A third song performed on the show “Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag” is also shifting significant copies putting the combined total of all three songs ar more than 10,000 copies sold so far this week.

A spokesman for the Official Charts Company said: “The impact of Gwyneth Paltrow and the continuing Brits effect demonstrates how powerful TV can be in influencing music tastes and interests in the digital world.”
