As we entered 2011, social networking is at an all time high, with the likes of Facebook being the leader in social networking websites. With this in mind, a whole new music promotion method has appeared on the internet today.

Although Facebook is a leading way to promote music by creating fan pages and profiles, there are other websites which are becoming new highly effective places to attract attention and fans, where in previous years would never be possible.

- YouTube is a good place to upload music videos and songs

- There has been an increase in people using article directories like Ezine to submit articles about their music and gain exposure

- Websites have become easier to develop and more user friendly. Bands are using websites for extra exposure

- The use of Twitter has caused extra avenues to get the word out

With the internet being such an important factor in todays life its vital an unsigned artist takes advantage of every possible way. There are however a few more less obvious ways of attracting new fans and even the likes of music industry pro's and record labels though..

Internet marketer and developer of Music Talkers Andrew Braithwaite explained a few internet tricks of the trade a music artist could adopt in the same way as many businesses do.

Press releases can be great for announcing new material and songs. Take advantage of free press release websites like www.release-news.com or Music Talkers. These press releases will target people interested in your music. A press release will also be sent out to anyone with Google Alerts too. Many of the top industry experts have Google Alerts set up to discover new artists music and news.

There are also other ways to promote your music by hiring 'freelancers'. For a small fee of $5 you can take advantage of a website called fiverr.com to have some great marketing techniques developed for you. These can attract attention to your music. They include: Viral video production, mass website tweets, Facebook group posting to 100000k plus, website promotion, offline promotion methods, radio station shout outs and more..

We also recommend as an unsigned artist you take a look round here at Music Talkers and take advantage of some of the free services
