For fans of Lady Gaga the wait is finally over as the new “Born This Way” video was released online at 11am today (February 28) on her the Lady Gaga official Vevo, Youtube, Facebook and LadyGaga.com site.
At over seven minutes long the video is more of a music movie with scenes of the eccentric singer giving birth to an alien race and prolonged monologue featuring before the music even starts.
The video starts with Gaga narrating the story of a cosmic birth with the creation of a new race, both good and evil, with images of space fetuses, severed heads and machine guns in a kaleidoscopic effect, when the music begins Gaga then dances her way through the video wearing nothing more than a very small black bikini while also featuring as a skeleton type creature reminicent of Michael Jackson's “Thriller”.
Lady Gaga has reportedly co directed the video herself with a little help from her friends choreographer Laurieann Gibson and fashion photographer Nick Knight.
“Born This Way” has already proved to be a massive hit since being released on February 11. It has reached number one in the charts in 14 different countries around the globe and became the fastest selling single of all time in iTunes history, selling more than a million copies in only five days.
Meanwhile, a second video featuring an acoustic version of “Born This Way” is rumoured to also be in the pipeline with the song available to buy from iTunes an proceeds being donated to charity.
While “Born This Way” continues to create a storm on the net Lady Gaga is reported to be going to accept the role of godmother to Zachary, the son of Sir Elton John and David Furnish although the rumours have not been confirmed.
When asked if she would be taking up the role on Radio 1 she said: “I don't want to talk about it. I've actually met Zachery and he's the most beautiful beautiful baby and he is so loved.”
