Los Angeles, CA / January 18, 2018 – Professor and the Madman unveil “Space Walrus,” the debut video from the group’s new album Disintegrate Me, due out February 23, 2018 on FullerTone Records. The album will be available on clear vinyl, CD and download and can be pre-ordered HERE.

Professor and the Madman is a U.S./UK group comprised of rock ‘n’ roll veterans. The lineup features co-frontmen Alfie Agnew (The Adolescents, D.I.) and Sean Elliott (D.I., Mind Over Four) alongside the rhythm section of Rat Scabies (The Damned) and Paul Gray (The Damned, Eddie & the Hot Rods, UFO). Disintegrate Me was co-produced by Professor and the Madman and acclaimed British producer David M. Allen (The Cure, Sisters of Mercy, The Damned).

An homage to the classic space songs of the 1960s and ‘70s, “Space Walrus” shares obvious parallels with David Bowie’s groundbreaking “Space Oddity” single from 1970. “Alfie and I both had the idea of a poor quality ‘Buck Rogers’ type of concept,” says Elliott. “We agreed that the video would be directed by Diana Bird after seeing her work on videos from 45 Grave and Wrong Beach. We gave her the initial concept and she quickly developed it, including the visual references to Georges Méliès’ 1902 short ‘A Trip to the Moon.’

The video was done at a full scale 5.1 surround video facility but you’d never know from looking at it and we couldn’t be happier.” The nine tracks on next month’s Disintegrate Me encompass elements of British Invasion rock, Britpop, psych, prog, power pop, and even country, all underpinned by the melodic punk energy so clearly imprinted on the band’s DNA. Agnew and Elliott are credited with the lion’s share of the song and lyric writing. “Sean and I have always been prolific songwriters, and we write in whatever style fits our mood at the time,” says Agnew. “When we formed our songwriting partnership, we understood that we would need a lot of freedom and control in order to not be creatively stifled. For the most part, we alternate lead vocal duties on our albums.”
