ICMP, one of the UK's leading contemporary music schools, is honoured to welcome singer-songwriter and alumni, Elena Tonra to their Songwriters' Circle. The event will take place at the Rosslyn Hill Chapel, Hampstead on Monday 23rd April 2018.
ICMP Songwriters' Circle is a monthly event led by their highly-experienced songwriting teachers and music industry professionals. These intimate events, open to all, give audiences a unique opportunity to hear songs in their most stripped-back form, with the songwriters sharing personal insights into how they were created.
Special guest Elena formed her band Daughter whilst studying at ICMP with fellow Alumnus Igor Haefeli and Remi Aguilella. Some of their best loved songs, including 'Youth', were actually started at the music school, in workshop sessions. Elena’s exceptional, unique voice, Igor’s innovative production and the trios skilful writing and arrangements has allowed them to create an inspiring and innovative new sound whose influence can now be heard across modern, electronic folk. This has bought the band great critical acclaim and commercial success.
Eight years on from their graduation from ICMP, ICMP Head of Songwriting Sophie Daniels said “I can't wait to hear Elena play some of those songs for us again in their stripped back raw form, and hear her brand-new material, at the lovely and atmospheric venue Rosslyn Hill Chapel. It should be a very special evening for our whole songwriting community."
ICMP have a legacy of graduating independent and authentic songwriting artists. In-keeping with that theme the event will also feature new artist and fellow ICMP Alumna ARK alongside Elena. Charlotte Clark, aka ARK, has recently released her first single which has already gone on to achieve over 1 million streams on Spotify. "Charlotte creates beautiful and unique songs and we're, again, proud of her work and excited for her bright and independent future" said Sophie.
The Songwriters' Circle event will be hosted by Sophie Daniels and will also feature three of ICMP's current songwriting students - Cristina Llull (Year 2), Akira Kikucha (Year 2) and Sergei Vartiainen (Year 1) - who are all currently working to develop their own unique voices.
The event takes place on Monday 23rd April, at the Rosslyn Hill Chapel, in Hampstead (NW3 1NG) and starts at 7:00pm. Tickets are available to the general public priced £10 (+booking fee) and available from Eventbrite: https://bit.ly/2Hek0ws The event is free to ICMP students and alumni with valid student cards.
