BluesFest Dublin returns to the 3Arena in October and has announced two significant headliners for the Sunday night. Robert Plant and the Sensational Shape Shifters will be joined by Van Morrison, promising an evening of material old and new.

Robert Plant last appeared at BluesFest on the London date in 2016, appearing as a special guest for Bill Wyman’s 80th birthday show. Fans can expect to hear classic Led Zeppelin material, plus solo songs including tracks from the 2017 album “Carry Fire.”

Van Morrison will be playing tracks from his extensive back catalogue plus songs from his upcoming studio album “You’re Driving Me Crazy.”

Robert Plant is looking forward to an exciting night, saying: “It’s been over 50 years since I first shared the stage with Van Morrison when his band were positioned at number two on the charts with ‘Here Comes The Night’. His style then and now remains unique and loaded with deep soul.”

Other confirmed acts include John Fogerty, who promises a Credence Clearwater Revival greatest hits set, and special guests, The Steve Miller Band.

BluesFest was initially launched in 2011, solely in London, and is now recognised as one of Europe’s leading music festivals, covering not only blues but jazz, pop and soul.

Following a successful inaugural event in Dublin last year, Leo Green, director of Live Events, has said: “I’m incredibly pleased with the progress we’ve made over the last seven years. I’ll be working at increasing our international presence and expanding into a number of new territories whenever and wherever appropriate.”

Last year’s show was a resounding success with ticket sales of over 40,000 across three nights. The 2018 BluesFest has expanded to four nights over all areas of the complex, including the use of the 14,000 seat arena.
