UK artists on top in US Billboard Chart

British artists are proving to be very popular in the US and for the first time in 25 years UK acts hold positions one, two and three in the US album chart.
SoundScan, the company responsible for putting together the Billboard chart, reported that the second album by Adele, “21” is still on top of the charts in the number one spot with sales of 168,000 copies.
In at number two is Liverpool born singer Marsha Ambrosius is at number two with her debut album “Late Nights & Early Mornings” with sales of 96,000 copies this week and award winning band Mumford & Sons is sitting pretty in the number three spot with their album “Sigh No More” selling 54,000 copies in the last seven days.
The last time that British acts saw such success in the US was back in October 1985 when the iconic Dire Straits album “Brothers In Arms” was at number one in the US album chart followed by Sting with his album “The Dream Of Blue Turtles” and finally Tears For Fears was at number three with “Songs From The Big Chair”.
These top three managed to force out any US acts from the top of the chart for an amazing seven weeks in a row.
Other Brits doing well in the US this week include Tinie Tempah, whose single “written In The Stars” has jumped from number 68 to number 52 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart while Essex girl Jessie J has aso seen a positive move with “Price Tag” moving from the number 93 position up to number 78.
