Van Halen singer Sammy Hagar has claimed that he was the victim of an alien abduction while promoting his new book Red: My Uncensored Life in Rock.

The singer speaks in his book about his hedonistic lifestyle of sex, drugs and rock and roll but it is the claim that he was abducted by aliens that is causing the most controversy.

When Sammy Hagar spoke to MTVHive.com about the experience he made it very clear that he thought that the experience, which he details in the book, had been real.

He said: “It was real. (Aliens) were plugged into me, It was a download situation. This was long before computers or any kind of wireless. There weren't even wireless telephones. Looking back now it now, it was like...They downloaded something onto me! Or they uploaded something from my brain, like an experiment. See what this guy knows.”

Sammy is claiming that the incident took place hen he was contacted by aliens in the foothills of Fontana in California.

The 63 year old singer said: “That happened. That friggin happened, I'll tell you right now. Another thing happened when I was about four that I didn't put into the book. One time I saw what I considered to be, well, at the time I thought it was a car with no wheels. We lived out in the country and I saw this thing floating across a field, creating this big dust storm. I threw rocks at it and...I don't know what happened next.”

Sammy Hagar is adamant that the entire experience was real and added that it couldn't have been a dream because it happened during daylight hours.
