With just over 2000 monthly listeners on Spotify and only 603 YouTube subscribers, Sunny War is a country blues artist to look out for. Her sound? She exhibits a banjo style of playing an acoustic guitar creates a unique rhythm within the melody. This is coupled with a simplistic addition of strings with an occasional splash of percussion.
Perfect music for a Sunday afternoon road trip or enjoying a lounge area and a nice cold beverage. Once you read more about her story and how music was her refuge, you'll understand why her music moves you the way it does. Her latest album “Particle War” makes you picture a smokey bar, and the track My Sweet Demise reminds you of something you might hear on the soundtrack for True Blood. Then change to track "No Home No Safety Nets", you’re taken on a journey into the sunshine.
When WE say journey, this album will definitely take you on one with a musical twist with her track Hollyweird. Psychedelic pads and guitar and vocal effects that take you back to the 70’s. Her whole discography is well worth a listen and be sure to keep an eye out for Sunny War.
Sunny’s repertoire includes an expansive collection of songs exploring personal aspects of her life. Her lyrics prove she is not afraid to share her insights and philosophies on life. In her track, “Man of My House,” Sunny speaks on the trials and tribulations of living without a father in the home and inheriting the role of head of the household. Other tracks are just as powerful, but also contain a dose political philosophy as exemplified in the moving blues tracks, “Police State” and “Sheep.” There is also “Downtown–”a track that touches on the damage to one’s life drugs can cause without warning.
