What a treasure of a festival – Newport Jazz Festival

Its doubtful there's a jazz music lover that hasn't heard about the Newport Jazz Festival.
It is a great summer festival, located in Newport, Rhode Island. Many years after that, there was a period when it was moved to New York, but then again back to its first place. Also, in a period of the year 1984 to 2008, it was recognized by the name JVC Jazz Festival.
However, it has a long tradition of performing. Believe it or not, the Newport Jazz Festival was established 64 years ago, back in 1954. Since then, it is held every single summer. The number of famous jazz musicians that have performed here is huge. Back in the years, the audience had a privilege to enjoy in performances of ones of the Greatest jazz musicians ever like: Miles Davis, Billie Holliday, B.B King, Dave Brubeck, James Brown, Ray Charles, Roberta Flack and many more.
The year 1969 will always be remembered like “the experimentation one”. Why? Well, that year there was a mix of music genres: jazz, soul, and rock. And there was the performance of the legendary rock band Led Zeppelin. Wow! It has to be an amazing experience especially for people that admire both – jazz and rock music.
During the years, there were many recordings and notable performances. For example, the album “Nina Simone at Newport” by the extraordinary talented Nina Simone, was released in 1960 after she performed that year on Newport Jazz Festival.
Or while the festival took place in New York. In 1973 was realized the album called “Newport Jazz Festival: Live at Carnegie Hall” and one of the performers was Ella Fitzgerald.
So if you want to, you can enjoy listening to jazz music on the Newport Jazz Festival in the weekend that follows.
This year the festival will be in the period of 3th-5th August, located in Fort Adams State Park. There will be 4 stages of music, also food and crafts, displays, two beer and wine gardens.
As every year, lots of musicians will be performing during those three days. Newport Jazz Festival will be starting from 11 am and finishing around 6.30 pm.
