“What a beautiful day!” That’s the opening line of one of the most famous songs by the Levellers, and it is also the most apt way to sum up the latest announcement from this legendary English folk rock band.

Celebrating 30 years of music from the Levellers, the band has decided to release a limited edition vinyl collection. Available to avid fans through independent retailers only and on the band’s website, the vinyl collection will also include a never-before-released recording of the band’s jaw-dropping Glastonbury headline set from 1994.

Consisting of 8 collectible vinyl, these must-have recordings will be available to purchase from September this year through to June 2019. Featuring remastered tracks taken from the band’s original analogue tape recordings, the release not only brings new life to old songs, but also puts to bed a long-running myth. “One of the biggest disappointments in Levellers history has been the assumption that none of our original master tapes had survived,” Levellers violinist Jon Sevink explains. “Following a meeting with Warner Records, I received an email listing the whereabouts of our entire recorded output since 1991. Analogue 2” multitrack tapes, 1/2” masters! So we can now repress the albums from the original mix masters. On coloured vinyl… Yesss!"

The latest announcement comes on the heels of the Levellers’ earlier release of their Top 20 album titled We the Collective. Featuring a string of reworked acoustic arrangements, the album managed to pull the Levellers to their highest chart position in 20 years, proving that they still have that magic kick fans fell in love with in the 80s.

And the celebrations are not about to come to an end anytime soon. Kicking off on Friday 17 August, the Levellers will take to the stage at their very own Beautiful Days festival in Escot Park Devon. Joining them on stage will be other rock favourites including Manic Street Preachers, The Hives, Siuzanne Vega, Calexico, Gogol Bordello and loads more. The festival will run for two days until Sunday 19 August.

Keep an eye out for the first two vinyl set to be released in coming weeks – Letters From the Underground and Static on the Airwaves. Sporting bright pink and purple vinyl, they’ll be hard to miss… Their albums Levellers and Zeitgeist, which ranked second and first on the charts in the 90s respectively, will be released on orange and yellow vinyl in December.

In early-2019, a further 3 albums – Mouth to Mouth, Hello Pig and Headlights, White Lines, Black Tar Rivers – will be released on equally colourful vinyl. While June 2019 will see the release of the never-heard-before Glastonbury 1994 performance – on gold vinyl, of course.

The first batch of vinyl can be pre-ordered from Monday 20 August. You can find out more about where you can get your hands on these on the Levellers’ website or at TM Stores.
