She’s not just a pretty face – Boitumelo “Boity” Thulo has proven once again that there is no limit to what she can do.

Most notably known for her role as presenter and actress on some of South Africa’s most popular television shows, Boity has now entered the competitive world of music. And, as with everything she does, she nailed it.

On Thursday 30 August, Boity released her very first single – Wuz Dat. The rap song, which features South African hip-hop heavyweight Nasty C, left many long-time Boity fans pleasantly surprised. Played for the very first time on South Africa’s Metro FM, it wasn’t long before listeners shared their thoughts on what’s bound to become a massive hit.

Wuz Dat, which is set to officially drop on various streaming sites on Friday, has been lauded by music fans and industry stalwarts alike. Many were caught off-guard by her stellar rap skills, with a number of listeners comparing her to the formidable Cardi B.

The 28-year-old Boity gave fans a surprise-sneak peek of her rap talent in October last year when she unexpectedly took to the stage with Nasty C. And she didn’t disappoint. However, fans had no idea that this impromptu performance was only the beginning of a much bigger, more prominent place on the South African hip-hop scene.

The release of Wuz Dat coincides with the release of her very own fragrance line – Impulse. “The scent-sational secret is out! I’ve partnered with Impulse South Africa to co-create limited edition fragrances that will be hitting South Africa this September,” Boity said in a statement. “This entire journey has been one of empowerment and I want to show every girl that you can have it all.”

Born in Potchefstroom, Boity – who originally studied Psychology and Criminology at Monash University – started her career in 2011 as a small-time host of a South African educational programme. She soon moved on to bigger entertainment and lifestyle shows, and eventually became the face of one of South Africa’s most popular music shows – Club 808. She also won over TV fans with her hard-hitting performance in the local drama series Rockville as Mpho Bogatsu in 2013.

Fans can head over to Spotify and iTunes on Friday 31 August where they can listen to the full track and download it. For more info on everything Boity, you can follow her on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook.
