British singing sensation Adele has hit another bench mark in her already amazing career as her second album 21 spends her ninth week at the top of the UK album chart equaling the record held by Madonna for longest album at number one in the chart by a female solo artist.

Madonna set the record back in 1990 with her hugely popular greatest hits album, The Immaculate Collection.

While 21 is at number one in the chart the award winning singer also has her debut album, 19, sitting comfortably in the number two spot.

The singles from Adele are also continuing to sell more than well with the track “Someone Like You going back up to the number one position in the singles chart this week and two other singles, Rolling in the Deep at number nine this week and Make You Feel My Love at number 36 in the singles charts.

Meanwhile, other chart success stories in the UK this week include the Black Eyed Peas whose single Just Can't Get Enough went up by 12 places. Peter Kay and Susan Boyle had the highest new entry in the chart with their version of I Knew Him So Well, which they recorded for Comic relief, entering at number 11

Another Comic Relief track, Gold Forever by The Wanted, track fell one place as did Price Tag by Jessie J.

Adele may be dominating the album charts however The Strokes managed to get in at number three with their latest album Angles as the offering from Ronan Keating and Burt Bacharach, When Ronan Met Burt, was also a high entry at number five.
