Wilco frontman Jeff Tweedy has gone solo, and it’s phenomenal! While Tweedy has done some solo work before, mostly performing one-man acts of Wilco songs in the past, Tweede has now properly entered the solo artists sphere with his album WARM.

Featuring all-new material, Tweedy has hinted at this album for a few months, having performed a number of his new tracks at several shows. Naturally, fans are avidly looking forward to finally hearing the studio versions of these songs.

WARM brings everything you could possibly expect from Tweede while still paying homage to the well-known Wilco sound fans have come to love since the 90s. Already garnering much praise from listeners and critics, the single Some Birds is simply perfect. With a super-chill country-esque vibe, the song is already a huge hit with fans both old and new. In fact, it was so popular at Tweedy’s various solo performances that it’s become the first track of the new album to get its very own music video. And, in typical Tweedy fashion, it’s whimsical and fun, while still bringing across a message of inner conflict and battling with the past.

Tweede teamed up with some stellar talent as well to make WARM a reality. Before you’ve even heard a single note, fans are treated to album liner notes written by the legendary George Saunders from New Yorker and GQ fame. “Certain lyrical flowers sprout up with regularity across the ten song-yards that are this record,” he writes. “A son who has lost a father sings to his wife, his sons, that father. There are apologies, and mirror-twins; threats to enemies (‘I’d love to take you down / and leave you there’) and entreaties (‘Let’s go rain again!’) and dreamy challenges (‘I wonder how much freedom we can dream’) and ornery morphings of language that serve a simple function: they make the listener love language again,” Saunders writes.

WARM is set for release on 30 November on dBpm Records and is currently available for pre-order via the Wilco website.  The album comes hot on the heels of Tweedy’s first memoir, Let’s Go (So We Can Get Back) which will be on bookshelves on 13 November.
